Bubble Wrap As Wall Paper
Did you ever wonder where bubble wrap came from? Two engineers who started the company now known as Sealed Air invented bubble wrap in 1957. They didn’t originally intend to use their invention for packaging supplies. They had melted two shower curtains together keeping air bubbles in between to create a new plastic wall paper. The plastic wall paper did not become all the rage as they hoped but the development of what would become bubble wrap was just starting. The next thing they tried to do was market their new product as a greenhouse insulator. Luckily IBM picked up the material to help protect their new computers and the revolution of shipping and packaging began. Today bubble wrap is again used in different ways. Many people use it for stress relief because popping the bubbles is very therapeutic. It also is a great floating device for the kids in the small backyard pool for fun. Back to its roots many people are now using bubble wrap to insulate their windows in the winter. Bubble wrap has come full circle.
